Break Through Fear Forever!

Fear! - How Do You Break Through It?

Anyone interested in learning how to break through Fear? . . . . . .

Two ways I employ to get me through `fear' and some other trying emotions!

1. Affirmation: "Thy will be done Lord."; or "It's Karma."; or "Whatever happens, I'll handle it, and I am stronger for it."
2. Repeat whatever part of # 1 that works for you.

Oooohhh! Ouch!!! Did I say that . . . ?

Sermon coming! Some might want to skip the following 3 paragraphs.

All kidding aside, I realize that I am not in control, `really'. Once I set myself on a course, I separate or detach emotionally from the outcome. My faith keeps me sane through all the challenges that come my way.

When I am confronting `fear', I always remember that what doesn't kill me makes me stronger, so afterwards, either I will be stronger for my challenges, or I won't be around anyway. Heh, Heh!

In my daily actions, I find that I accomplish more when I pray as if it is all up to God, and I work as if it is all up to me. This seems to get the best results, and helps me to keep my focus where it should be, on what I want to have happen! And I always remember that what I am after might need an incubation period longer than what I'd like, it might not happen on my time schedule. Yes, Go after it -- and then let go, emotionally.

Sometimes we have so much of ourselves invested in the process, we feel crushed if what we want doesn't appear immediately. I am reminded of one of Dr Robert Schuller's quotations -- God's delays are not God's denials. Persist until . . . you might just be facing a test of faith.

I haven't felt intense fear for a very long time. I sometimes think that I have numbed myself to it's effects from having felt so much fear in my younger years. Or maybe, I am not being completely honest with myself, or I am not looking deep enough. I mean enduring fear, not the kind that pops up from startling circumstances, or fleeting thoughts.

Also, I think that we must be careful what labels we use to describe our feelings. At times we might use the `fear' label for an emotion that could be labeled, `uncertainty', or 'nervous'. We cannot stop ideas or thoughts from entering our minds, but we certainly can control what we do with them once they pop in there!

Anyone who is leading an active life, and is growing personally, will be uncertain at times. We tend to be uncertain about those things we have never done, or have never come across. However, once we take action to accumulate the knowledge necessary for it's accomplishment, and start `doing' it, the feeling turns into possibility and
certainty.

And so, how do you handle fear? Does it IMMOBILIZE you or does it MOBILIZE you? It's your choice. Allow your fear to empower you and move through it to take new action. Remember, 100% of the shots you don't take will not go in.

* Disclaimer: This is not to discount that portion of the population that have real problems with `fear', phobias and such, and professional help should be sought. I am in no way addressing that kind of situation at this level.

Action Step - Detach emotionally, concentrate only on what you are doing to bring your goal into fruition.

Detach from the outcome emotionally. Once you set into action, accept the fact that you are doing the best you can with the resources you have, whatever result occurs. Know that no matter what happens, you will handle it, and you will be stronger for it.

Test yourself today on some small matter which has been preventing you from getting what you want. You know which one I am talking about. It is the one that has been bothering you for some time, and up until now you couldn't get past it. That's the one to take action on.

Focus on the positive 'what ifs' instead of the negative and be ready to adjust your strategies. Whatever happens, you can always go to Plan 'B' or Plan 'C' alternate action steps.

See you tomorrow. Go For It.
