Remember Their Courage
Remember Their Courage
Remembrance Day - Lest We Forget . . .
It is Remembrance Day in Canada and Britain today. Veteran's Day in the U.S. We specifically set this day aside to remember the veterans who did not come home from the wars.
Remember them well for there is an element in this world which would take from us that which is most dear, our personal FREEDOM.
We remember all the men and women of the Allied Forces, in all of those countries that joined together to preserve our way of life. We remember them that fought for us, and many of them would never come home.
I salute those who lost their lives so that our freedoms could go on.
There have been many wars in the last century, and during any one of them, we were at risk, we were vulnerable to people who do not think the way we do.
The people to whom violence and power struggles are a way of life, the way to get what they want without regard for others' needs. They take what they want, and they kill to get it. We must always be on guard against this type of threat.
Those who have died in the service of our country all had "lives" outside of the service, loved ones, family members, friends just like us. They never came back to them.
This day has great significance for me as I totally respect those women and men who serve in the armed forces. They stand somewhere on a wall, or a fenceline, on ships, or in aircraft, or supporting those who do, diligently protecting our way of life from those who would take it from us.
They sacrifice their "lives" on a daily basis so that we can go on with ours. And, some of them will end up giving the ultimate sacrifice of their life standing guard for us today or tomorrow. I can only imagine what fears they might be fighting and breaking through, so that they can do their jobs.
Yes, today I remember those who have served and lost their lives, and I praise those who are still protecting us! God Bless our fallen veterans and our present armed forces service men and women, for without them now, there are still those who would try to take what we have.
Action Step - Remember that freedom is not free, there is always a price to pay. Remember those who have sacrificed so much, sometimes they made the ultimate sacrifice, so that we live free today.
And, spend some time reflecting on how we can make sure that we live our lives freely and fully, so that we honor and respect what they have fought so hard to give us.
